When Anxiety Is Great

Are you feeling anxiety right now? If you are, I'm right alongside there with you. I can feel anxiety about many things, where should I live, how can I accomplish my workload at my job, the world events, are my loved ones going to be ok? and the list can go on and on. What are some things that are giving you anxiety?
At times the anxiety can become so great; what are we to do? We can turn to God's Word in the Bible for comfort; Psalm 94:19 tells us, "When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy." God wants to give us comfort, and through His comfort, we can find joy. The joy can come from knowing that He cares for us.  His words are alive and active and will not turn void. I'm including a link explaining that God's Word Will Not Turn Void.

Here are some additional Bible verses when anxiety hits:

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

" Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
There are times when anxiety can be great and is not a place we like to be. We bring any anxiety to You right now and ask for Your comfort. Help us to find solace only in You and Your Words in the Bible.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Memorable Wedding Day Moment

Grief is different for each person. We all grieve differently. For some, talking about their lost loved ones is too painful. For others, they find comfort in reliving memories and talking about their loved ones. Whatever your thoughts and feelings are about grief, it is unique to you.
As I journey through grief, I do find joy in recalling memories. Today, April 23, would be our 38th wedding anniversary. I want to share a memorable moment from our wedding day. A common tradition at wedding receptions is that the guests will begin tapping their glasses, and the newly wedded couple is supposed to kiss. Paul and I decided beforehand that we would mix it up a little and shake hands rather than kiss. Our guests started laughing and clapping. We surely did take them by surprise. Here is a photo from that moment:

This the 5th year without Paul here to celebrate. We always made sure to go on a date night on our wedding anniversary. Sometimes, in our earlier years of marriage, we would take our young children with us on our date night.
I'm thankful for my life with Paul, and I will always miss him. Having little sprinkles of memories along the way brings me joy.
How about you? Would you like to share a memory of your loved one? Feel free to comment below; I would love to hear from you.
Thank you for visiting my small, humble blog.

Patty

The Lord Keeps Track Of Our Sorrows And Tears

Psalm 56:8 tells us, "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book." Although we may not know here on earth what the Lord does with our sorrows and tears, He is recording them in His book.
At times, my tears will flow like a faucet, and unlike a faucet, the tears can be difficult to turn off. In those moments of tears flowing like a faucet, I let them flow. I try my best not to hold the tears back.
How about you? Are you able to let the tears flow, or do you hold them back? Whatever you might be going through right now, please know it's ok to let them flow because the Lord keeps track of those tears.
Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We bring to You our sorrow and the many tears that flow. Thank you that You have recorded each one in Your book.
Please bring the comfort we need right now.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Thank you for visiting my small, humble blog.

We Are Not Given A Spirit Of Fear

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

Do you have anything you fear? I know I have my share of fears. Please know that fears are not from God. He does not give us a spirit of fear. I have learned that  "fear not" is mentioned 365 times in the Bible. Instead of fear, God gives us power, love, and a sound mind.
If you have any fears right now, please know that God does not want you to have a spirit of fear.
Repeat this verse over and over again until you have it memorized. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7. When you have moments of fear, say this verse and claim it for yourself.
Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
There are fears we all have. You do not give us a spirit of fear. You provide us with power, and love, and a sound mind. Please help us to claim this every time fear begins to overtake us.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Happy Resurection Sunday!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1-5 (NIV)

Happy Resurrection Sunday to my family and friends.
Jesus is our Savior; He took each of our past, present, and future sins to the cross. Through Him, we will have eternal life.
Thank You, Jesus, Amen.

Resting In God's Promises (A Monthly Series #7)

Resting in God's promises is an ongoing project, and the introduction can be found in this post: God's Promises.

God's promise-God is in our midst and will rejoice over us with singing:
"The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

We all have a list of things we need to do each day. The list can go on from running errands, getting the laundry done, making meals, and so many other things. While we care for everything we need to do, the Lord is in our midst. He is the Mighty One to save us. The Lord rejoices over us and will quiet us with His love. He even rejoices over us by singing. What a fantastic promise we can hold close to our hearts and find rest in.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your promises. Each day we have a list of things we need to complete. Knowing that You are in our midst and save us is such a comfort. Help us to see that You are with us.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Do you have a promise of God you keep close to your heart? If so, I would love to hear from you, and I will include them in future blog posts. My contact form is on the sidebar of this blog.

With love,
Patty

Good Friday Devotional

"So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit." John 19:30

Did you know there is no sin God cannot forgive? No matter if the sin was in the past, present, or even in the future, Jesus took all our sins to the cross. That is why He said, "It is finished." May you hold onto this and know you are forgiven in the eyes of God. Romans 5:8 also tells us this "but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us."

Let us pray together;
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus to take our sins and that we are forgiven. We are thankful that because of His death and rising again, we will have eternal life.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen
