Mother's Day 2023

Happy Mother's Day to all my family and friends. I want to take this time to honor my mother, Shirley, for her love and care for our family. God bless you, Mom.
Mother takes on many forms: mother to our children, grandchildren, adopted children, step-children, and pets. Perhaps you do not have any children, yet you are a mother to your nieces, nephews, and neighbors. All are important and valued.
If your mother is no longer here, this can be a tough day for you, and I extend my sympathy.
Also, if you lost a child or the father of your children is no longer here, I extend my sympathy to you.
I'm a proud mother of three daughters, they are a blessing to me, and I cherish each of them.
Mother's Day also brings some mixed emotions for me as I miss my son, Joe, and the father of my children, Paul. Yet, I'm thankful they were and will always be a part of my life.
Motherhood is all about loving and caring for those that the Lord has entrusted to us.
"Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)

May you have a beautiful and blessed Mother's Day.

With love,
Patty

Mother's Day 2022

On this Mother's Day, reading the Bible verse from Isaiah 66:13-"As a mother comforts her child so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem," gives a beautiful example of how God values mothers.
Mother takes on many roles: mother to your children, your step-children, your adopted children, your daycare children, and a mother to your pets. Perhaps you do not have any children, yet you are a mother to your nieces, nephews or a mother to the children of your friends and neighbors.
Today, I would like to honor my mother. At 86, she is doing well and enjoys finding a bargain at thrift shops, which brings her joy. She keeps God's word close to her heart.
On Mother's Day, I'm so proud of my three daughters. We make sure to spend time together with our Family Fun events.
If your mother is experiencing health-related issues or if your mother is no longer here, I want to say I'm sorry. If you lost a child, or if the father of your children is no longer here, I understand this full well, as I miss my son, Joe, and the father of my children, Paul. Mother's Day can bring some sadness to us. May we rest knowing that God will comfort us in each of these circumstances.

Happy Mother's Day, every role of a mother is important and valued.

With love,
Patty

Mother's Day 2021

Today, we celebrate Mother's Day. I was curious about the history of Mother's Day. So I did a little research, I would like to share what I discovered:
Mother's Day became an official holiday in 1914 after President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation that it would take place on the second Sunday of May each year.
It was due to the efforts of a woman named Anna Jarvis who started a campaign to honor mothers after the death of her own mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis in 1905. Her mother cared for soldiers on both sides of the fields during the Civil War. This was also her mother's prayer; "I hope and pray that someone, sometime, will found a memorial mothers day commemorating her for the matchless service she renders to humanity in every field of life. She is entitled to it."— Ann Reeves Jarvis
I would have to say the prayer of Ann Reeves Jarvis has been answered, through her daughter's efforts. We can commemorate mothers in many ways:
  • a mother to your own children
  • a mother to your adopted children
  • a mother to your stepchildren
  • a mother to your pets
  • you may not have any children of your own, but you are a "mom" to your family or friend's children.
  • Whatever your role as a mother is, always remember it is an important and essential role every single day of the year.
I'm thankful for my own mother, that I can spend time with her. She enjoys creating greeting cards on her computer and watching baseball games with my dad. I want to say God bless you today and every day.
I'm also thankful to be with my daughters, we will be having brunch together today.  I enjoy their company.
~Mother's Day can also bring sadness, if your mother is no longer here, if your mother is currently not in good health, or if you have lost a child.  My heart truly goes out to you. There can also be sadness on Mother's Day if the father of your children is no longer here. I understand full well the pain of losing a child and not having the father of my children here. We can still be present and yet grieve our lost loved ones. May you find some moments of joy throughout your day today, recalling memories.
With love,
Patty

Mother's Day 2020

Today is Mother’s Day, I’m so thankful that I have the privilege, the blessing, and the desire of my heart to be a mother. Mother’s Day brings me a mixture of emotions, happiness, and sadness at the same time. I’m happy and thankful that my mother is here and I can talk to her and spend some time with her. I’m delighted and grateful that I can spend time with my three beautiful daughters. Yet, Mother’s Day also brings me sadness because I miss my son, Joe, and I miss the father of my children, Paul. I miss Paul saying to me like he did every Mother’s Day “Happy Mommies’ Day.”
Maybe today you also have a mixture of emotions, both happiness, and sadness simultaneously. I share in your joy, and I also share in your sadness. Maybe your mother is no longer here, and you miss her. Maybe your mother is here, yet some illness has taken over her. Maybe you have lost a child, and you miss that child. Maybe the father of your children is no longer here. I wish I could take your sadness away. I would like to offer up a suggestion to recall a happy moment with your lost loved one, write it down, and go back and read it often. It’s ok to let the tears fall. My prayer is that today amongst the moments of sadness, you can find some happiness as well.
With love, Patty
