God's Promise-He will strengthen our hearts:
"Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!" Psalm 27:14 NKJV

This promise tells us, more than once, to wait on the Lord. When we do, He will strengthen our hearts.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You now with gratitude for Your promises. Help us to wait on You so that You can strengthen our hearts.

God's Promise-Our strength will be renewed:
"But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)

Do you ever feel weak and weary? I have at times in my life. When we trust the Lord, we will find new strength to endure. 

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are thankful that Your promises are something we can hold onto. When we feel weak and weary, help us to remember that You will give us new strength to endure as we journey through our lives.

God's Promise-His Son, Jesus, will provide rest for our souls:
"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV)

When we are weary and burdened, Jesus invites us to take His yoke, and He will give rest to our souls.


Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your promises give us hope, and we offer our thanks to You. Knowing You give rest to our souls brings comfort.

God's Promise-He has removed our sins from us:
"For His unfailing love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west." Psalm 103:11-12

Just as the east and the west never meet, so too, through Jesus, our past, present, and future sins will never meet because God has removed them all.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your love for us is woven throughout the Bible; help us accept this love and rest in Your promise that You have removed our sins.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4

As we all know, there will be times when we have sadness and lose loved ones; this promise lets us know God will comfort us.

Your promises are here for us to rest in and hold onto. We are thankful that You will comfort us when we mourn.

God's Promise-all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved:
"For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 10:12-13 (NIV)

We can call on the name of the Lord in our times of need and when things are going well. He's our saving grace.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Your promises are a blessing. Help us to rest in Your promises daily. When we call upon Your name, You will save us.

God's Promise-His Son Jesus is the light in the darkness:
"When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." John 8:12

May we rest in this promise that Jesus is the light in any darkness that comes our way.

We come to You now with thanks for Your promises. When we have times of darkness in our lives, help us to claim Jesus as the light.

God's Promise-He is the Father of compassion and comfort:
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Knowing God is the Father of compassion and comfort is a beautiful promise we can hold onto daily.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You with thankfulness. Your promises are a blessing. With Your help, we can keep Your promises close to our hearts. We claim You as the Father of compassion, comfort, and strength.

God's Promise- We will have eternal life by looking to God's Son, Jesus, and believing in Him.
"For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." John 6:40

When Jesus was here on earth, He talked about eternal life often. He wanted all to know with believing in Him, we will have eternal life. 

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your promises are a blessing and help us keep them close to our hearts. We are grateful for eternal life through Your Son, Jesus.

God's Promise-God loved His Son Jesus, and Jesus passes that love to us:
“As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:9-11

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
You loved us enough to send Your Son Jesus to pass that love to us. We are grateful for Your love, and help us remain in Your love each day.

Resting In God's Promises (A Monthly Series #18)



Resting in God's promises is an ongoing project, and the introduction can be found in this post: God's Promises.

God's Promise-He cares for you.
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 1Peter 5:7  

With the stress of life and world events, it is understandable that we have anxiety. Talking with family members, friends, a pastor, or a therapist can significantly benefit our well-being. As we read this promise, "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7
How can we cast our anxiety onto God? Bring out a notebook and pen and write out the following:
                                                 Dear God-I'm having anxiety about (fill in the blank)     _______________________________________________________________________
Write out as many things that are causing anxiety. Seeing things written out can be a starting point for prayer and asking for God's help. 

May we rest this week knowing we can cast any anxiety to God because He cares for us.

Resting in God's promises is an ongoing project, and the introduction can be found in this post: God's Promises.

God's Promise-There is room for all of us in God's house
"My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am."  John 14:2-3 (NIV)

In this promise, Jesus tells us that there are many rooms in His Father's house, and He is going there to prepare a place for you and me, and He will come back and take us there to be with Him.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You with grateful hearts that there is room for all of us in Your house. We are thankful that Your Son, Jesus, is preparing a place for us and that He will come back and take us there so we can be with Him. 

In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Resting in God's promises is an ongoing project, and the introduction can be found in this post: God's Promises.

God's Promise-We can approach God's throne of grace with confidence through His Son Jesus.
"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. "Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

While He was here on earth, Jesus, the Son of God, experienced many of the same struggles, temptations, and sufferings we experience. Many did not believe He was the Son of God. Yet, He took all our past, present, and future sins to the cross. Because of this, we can have confidence that God will extend grace to us through His Son, Jesus.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are so thankful that we can come to Your throne of grace through Your Son, Jesus, and receive mercy to help us in our time of need.

In the name of Jesus, we pray,

When we seek peace in our lives, this promise from God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Resting in God's promises is an ongoing project, and the introduction can be found in this post: God's Promises.
God's Promise-God is a faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations.
"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments." Deuteronomy 7:9

God has given us a covenant that is a spiritual agreement of love that He is a faithful God who loves us. 

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You in thanksgiving for Your promises. Help us to understand Scripture and to rest in Your faithfulness and love.

In the name of Jesus, we pray,
