Happy Birthday To My Son In Heaven

Today would be my son, Joe's 31st birthday.  I like sharing memories of him in previous posts if you would like to read them here:

Throughout the day today, I recalled a memory of Joe on his 16th birthday.  He was close to getting his driver's license and needed a few more hours behind the wheel with me. So, we decided to go to a sporting goods store that he liked and purchase some things he needed for his running. This way, he could pick out his birthday gift. The drive was 45 minutes, one way from our home. As we were on our way, I happen to fall asleep for a little while. When I woke up, he laughed and said, "you must trust my driving since you fell asleep.." Yes, I did trust his driving. This still makes me smile.
Recalling memories brings me comfort, especially on days like today. I sure do miss him.

Peace

"Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 (NIV)

As I read newspaper headlines and watch news broadcasts, there is more bad news reported than good news. At times this can leave us unsure, unsettled, and, yes, afraid. This is what the world gives us, very little hope.
When Jesus said, "Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." Jesus wanted us to turn to Him for peace and to not be afraid.
Thought for today:
When we have times of being afraid, may we remember that Jesus will give us real peace.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
The world is in so much turmoil right now as You well know. At times this can leave us unsure, unsettled, and afraid. Help us to remember that Jesus can give us peace, and we do not need to be afraid.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen

Thankful Thursday

"I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds" (NIV)
Psalm 9:1

Each Thursday, I send a text message to my three daughters called "Thankful Thursday".
We each respond with something we are thankful for.
More than ever, I feel it is important to find something, anything to be thankful for.
This Thursday, I'm thankful for restful sleep.  After a long workday, I'm very tired and exhausted.  Having restful sleep helps me begin the day with the energy that I need to get things accomplished at work and at home.
Feel free to respond with something you are thankful for in the comments below. I enjoy hearing from you.
May you have a wonderful day.
With love,
Patty
