Seeking Joy, Peace And Hope

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope." Romans 15:13 (ESV)

In grief, it can become challenging to find joy, peace, and hope. After the death of my son, Joe, in 2008 and my husband, Paul, in 2017, many people would tell me, "you will get through" and "it will get better."
Those words were a way to bring me comfort. However, I just wasn't so sure how I would get through and how it could get better. Have you received comforting words in your grief?
As I write this blog post, those words have stayed with me, and because of this, I would like to take some time today and ask these questions:
Have I been able to get through?
With prayer, love, and support from family and friends, I have been able to get through. It didn't happen overnight and has taken time. I cry when I need to cry. Many people pray for my family and me. I'm so very grateful for their prayers. Do you have people that are praying for you? I want to offer this prayer for you from the Bible in Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope." (ESV)
Next question:
Has it gotten better?
The truth is life is never the same after losing loved ones. I will always want my son, Joe and, my husband, Paul, to be here. I'm sure you feel the same way about your lost loved ones.
With prayer, God can help us learn to adapt and be resilient. So, to answer the question-has, it gotten better? Life without Joe and Paul is not "better," daily prayer helps to get through. We can pray each day that God will fill each of us with joy, peace, and hope. Our hope is in Jesus; He took our past, present, and future sins to the cross. With this hope, we will have eternal life and see our loved ones again.
Spending time with family and friends can be very beneficial as well.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you that You are the God of hope. We bring to You the grief we have in missing our loved ones.
It can become challenging to find joy, peace, and hope. May the power of the Holy Spirit help us abound in the hope that we can live our lives as You desire for us. Thank you for the hope we have in Your Son Jesus.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Reflections On The 4th Anniversary Of The Loss Of My Husband, Paul

Today is the 4-year "anniversary" of my husband, Paul's last day here on earth. I miss him today; the reality is, I miss him every day.
Part of my journey is to recall memories that bring me joy. Today, I would like to share one of my memories:
Paul was so thrilled to purchase a GPS tracker to help navigate routes for work and day-to-day travel. He just thought they were the neatest thing ever. At the time, GPS was not available on cell phones.
As the female voice on the GPS would prompt which direction to go, Paul's response would be, "yes, dear."  I would laugh, and he would smile. He did appreciate the directions she was giving him.
Thinking about this today still makes me laugh.

Are you missing a loved one? I would love to hear from you.
Do you like to recall memories? Feel free to share.

Thank you for visiting my small, humble blog.

Sprinkle Of Encouragement To The Mother Who Has Lost A Child

I have often read or heard this quote-"no parent should bury a child." Yet, it does happen, and it has happened to you and me. Your child will always remain a part of you. I understand how much you miss your child, and I know you long for them to be here with you. We may never understand this side of heaven why we lost our child. When we are unable to understand, the Bible gives us this encouragement:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB)
At the age of 18 years old, my son, Joe, died tragically in 2008; there is not a day that goes by without me thinking of him in one shape, form, or another. In the days and months following his death, something inside of me wanted to remember everything I could about him. So, I would take out a journal and write anything that would come to my mind. It helped to get the thoughts that were on my mind onto paper. I still write about him here on my blog. If you would like to read some of my posts, I have included the links below:

~I want to offer this suggestion~
Find a pretty journal and begin writing the thoughts that come to your mind about your child. If you do not feel like writing, perhaps find a trusted friend or therapist with whom you would feel comfortable sharing your thoughts. Maybe they would be willing to write them out for you.
One other idea would be to record your thoughts on your phone's voice memo.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I bring to You, Father, the mother, reading this post. She misses her child so very much, and she longs to have her child here with her. Bring her comfort as only You can. Help her trust in the LORD with all
her heart. With her faith in the LORD,  please help make her paths straight.
Please bring trusted friends and or a therapist that can help her along the way.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
