The Beginning Of The Holiday Season-We Can Still Be Present, And Also Miss Our Lost Loved Ones

This Thursday, November 25, 2021, is the Thanksgiving Holiday, a time of year to give thanks for the blessings in our lives. It also marks the beginning of the holiday season of festivities with family and friends. We can still be present at gatherings and also miss our lost loved ones. Although I never claim to be an expert, I would like to offer a few suggestions that can be helpful:
  • Light a candle and have it burn throughout the day in the memory of your lost loved ones. The candle will serve as a visual to acknowledge them.
  • If you feel comfortable with memories, ask others to share a memory of your lost loved one. In return, share one of your memories.
  • At times, we can become so focused on our own circumstances. Asking others what is going on in their lives can help shift our focus.
  • Stepping out into the fresh air can help clear our minds, even for a few minutes.
  • Prayer can help us with any difficulties we might be having each day and during the holiday season. Jesus is always here for us. This Bible verse is something we can hold onto "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." Philippines 4:13 (NLT)
Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we begin this holiday season, we are thankful for the many blessings in our lives. Namely_____________________ (feel free to write the blessings).
We also miss our lost loved ones. We ask for Your help and know that we can do all things through Christ that gives us strength.

In the name of Jesus,
Amen

With love,
Patty
