I seem to be drawn to billboard signs; they get me thinking, as I talk about in this post. The recent billboard sign I saw said, "Embrace Jesus, The True Prince Of Peace." For many of us, we may not be feeling peace with the events that have taken place in 2020. And maybe beyond the events that have taken place, we may be dealing with other personal things-loss of loved ones, illness, job loss, stress levels are high, distance learning for children; for each of us, we have our own set of circumstances that take away peace. For myself, I miss my son, Joe, and my husband, Paul.
With all this being said, how can we embrace Jesus and find peace? Although I will not pretend to have all the answers, here are a few thoughts that may be helpful, and feel free to add your own thoughts:
- The mention of the name Jesus brings peace.
- Jesus Himself said, "I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give you is a gift the world cannot give. So do not be troubled or afraid." (John 14:27).
- Find peace in knowing that Jesus took our past, present, and future sins to the cross. We are forgiven. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:19).
- Spend time with family and friends. If unable to spend time in person, perhaps a phone call, face-time, or a zoom call.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
With everything that is happening in the world and within our lives, it is hard for us to find peace. It seems Lord, circumstances in life take away any peace there is. Help us embrace Jesus, and when we do, may we find peace.
In Jesus name, we pray,
Amen
