Counting Our Blessings

Each of us has some degree of hardship, grief, illness, job loss, financial difficulties, stress, health issues. Amid these things, it can be difficult to count our blessings. Perhaps we can start in small ways:

~We could begin with a notebook called "Counting My Blessings." Where we can record the blessings that have been a part of our lives.

~Having this notebook would give us something we can add to each day, once a week, once a month, whatever works best for each of us.

~As we write in this notebook, we will have something we can repeatedly read that can serve as a reminder of the blessings in our lives.

~Reading Scripture can bring us blessings. Knowing that there is a loving Heavenly Father that loves us is a blessing. Here are some Scripture verses we can add to our notebooks:

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life. You stretch out Your hand against the anger of my foes; with Your right hand, You save me." Psalm 138:7 (NIV)

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phillippians 4:7 (NIV)

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NIV)

Let us pray together,

Dear Heavenly Father,

We can sometimes be so focused on the problems that we forget about our blessings. We come to You now and ask for Your help in counting our blessings. Thank you for the blessing of eternal life in Your Son Jesus.

In the name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen
