Resting In God's Promises (A Monthly Series #11)

Resting in God's promises is an ongoing project, and the introduction can be found in this post: God's Promises.

God's Promise- God provides an anchor of hope:
"Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 6:17-20 (NIV)

An anchor's heaviness and weight provide security for a boat or ship to keep it from moving in the water. Like an anchor providing security, God has promised an anchor of hope for our souls through His Son Jesus. Jesus took our past, present, and future sins to the cross. With our acceptance of Jesus taking our sins, we will have eternal life.

Let us pray together,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You now with a heart of thankfulness.
You have provided an anchor of hope for our souls through Your Son, Jesus.
We accept and appreciate that Jesus took our past, present, and future sins to the cross.
We are so thankful that we will have eternal life.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen

Do you have a promise from God that you keep close to your heart? If so, I would love to hear from you. I will include them in future blog posts. My contact form is in the sidebar of this blog.

With love,
Patty
